Another summer in quarantine? Or a busting out, finally post-vaccination, after over a year of pandemic blues?
For these Burnaby teens looking forward to summer, the future is uncertain but looking better.
Even though there still may be Covid restrictions in place, it will be similar to the summer of 2020, and we will be able to hangout with others, says highschool student Row Berto Diaz. He plans on working throughout the summer, as well as staying active and spending time with his family and friends.
Diaz responded with a definite yes when asked if he’ll obey all safety guidelines during the summer, prioritizing the health of others over his personal fun. “Personally, I would continue imposing the current Covid restrictions during the summer” and is hopeful that he will have a Covid-free senior year.
As the leading scorer of Alpha basketball team, Diaz is ‘hungry to dominate” in his senior ball season. “Outside of sports, I am looking forward to graduation, prom and all other senior events”. “Ensuring that we all obey safety guidelines in the next few months and throughout the summer is the only way we can experience those events” says Diaz.
Diaz concluded the interview with an emphatic message, saying “I’m tired of seeing death counts every morning, it’s time we all do our part to ensure the safety of our loved ones”
